Nurturing the next generation of tech talent remains a corporate mission for Jumia. Through the Jumia Tech Center Internship Program, the company is developing young professionals through practical training which facilitates their professional growth until they reach full-time employee status. By providing hands-on training in various tech domains, Jumia is building a stronger, more innovative team to drive the company’s future growth.
This program gives interns the opportunity to work on cutting-edge tech projects, enhancing their skills while contributing to Jumia's expansion upcountry. From software engineering to data analysis, interns gain exposure to critical areas of e-commerce technology, all within Jumia’s dynamic, tech-driven environment.
Diversity and Growth at the Core
The internship program thrives on diversity, ensuring that interns from varied backgrounds bring fresh perspectives to the table. At Jumia, diversity isn't just about inclusion, it’s about fostering creativity and collaboration to solve complex challenges. Interns at our Tech Center have a range of experiences, and their unique insights contribute to our success.

Success Stories
Many of our interns have transitioned into full-time roles, and here are just a few examples:

Abdelrahman Mohamed - Product Owner, Egypt Tech Center said, “After joining the Internship Program at Jumia, I had the opportunity to join the JForce team as a Product Owner Intern. My direct manager, Mohamed Ibrahim, and Engineering Manager, Silvio Passos, onboarded me and demonstrated the business model of JForce, the target customers, and how JForce operates. I also had several sessions with Silvio to understand the software architecture and modules of JForce. My direct manager shared with me the vision and roadmap of JForce for 2024 and the progress of ongoing projects.
After the onboarding phase, I started participating in our team meetings, including daily standups, grooming, planning, sprint review meetings, managing the product backlog on Jira, and transforming requirements into user stories. After one month, my manager introduced me to JForce stakeholders, including the Head of Offline Sales, who is the main JForce stakeholder. I started participating in weekly meetings with business stakeholders, collecting and prioritizing their requirements, and transforming these into manageable tasks for the development team.
During the sixth month of the internship, I was offered a position as a Junior Product Owner at Jumia Group. I am really thankful for this experience, which helped me develop my skills and enabled me to work with different cultures on developing a product that brings real value to our customers in nine African countries.”

Omar Elghamrawy - PHP Developer, Egypt Tech Center shared, “When I first started my internship at Jumia, it was a bit challenging to get familiar with the system. But with the support of my team and the available resources, I quickly started to grow and improve. I learned new coding practices, discovered better ways to solve problems, and gained valuable insight into how a large-scale system like Jumia operates with its impressive infrastructure. The program not only helped me grow technically but also gave me the confidence to tackle real-world challenges.”

Fernanda Warttmann - Information Security Analyst - PTC Tech Center said, "I started my journey at Jumia in April 2024 as a Security Operations Center intern. My manager and team guided me through security procedures, and as I gained confidence, I took on tasks like refining workflows and handling brand protection events. Over time, I led investigations into phishing attempts, unauthorized access, and malware incidents, contributing insights in team meetings.
After six months, I was thrilled to accept a full-time role as an Information Security Analyst. Now, I collaborate with the engineering team to develop AI-driven security automation, making Jumia’s security operations more efficient and resilient."

Yostina Tanagho – HR Business Partner, Jumia Egypt shared, “The 'Interns Who Got Internalized' program is a testament to Jumia’s belief in nurturing young talent and offering opportunities for personal and professional growth. We are proud to have seen many interns transition into full-time roles, further solidifying our position as a leader in tech-driven innovation.
